Meeting with the Mustamäe District Government in Tallinn to discuss crisis skills training for community
On March 28, we met with Mustamäe District head Marja-Liisa Veiser and her team to discuss opportunities for launching a crisis skills training program in the district. The main focus of the meeting was on possible collaboration to improve residents’ crisis preparedness and strengthen the community in an increasingly uncertain security environment.
During the meeting, we provided an overview of community-based civil protection projects carried out over the past two years by the Crisis Research Centre, supported by the National Foundation for Civil Society and the Ministry of the Interior. We also presented the ongoing public survey among Mustamäe residents, which gathers self-assessments of their crisis preparedness. The survey helps identify strengths and gaps, providing a valuable starting point for refining the content of the training program.
Developing crisis skills is essential, as it enables people to better cope with potential emergencies, whether a power outage, natural disaster, or other unexpected events.
Following the meeting, Hannes Nagel, Head of the Crisis Research Centre, noted, “Together with the district government, we concluded that the people of Mustamäe also need additional support in developing crisis skills. Crisis Research Centre can be a reliable partner here, helping the local communities.”
Cooperation with the district government creates a strong foundation on which we can take the next steps toward a better prepared and more resilient Mustamäe. We are grateful to the district for their openness and willingness to collaborate.
