The Crisis Skills project began with an opening seminar in Väike-Õismäe

On January 16, the Haabersti Activity Centre hosted the opening seminar of the training programme for residents of the district’s apartment buildings, which provided an overview of how and when a total of 25 civil defence and crisis skills training sessions will be held.

Since October 2023, the Crisis Research Centre has been developing a population protection plan for the Väike-Õismäe settlement. “We’d like to thank everyone who helped make this project possible. Special thanks go to the Municipal Police, Rescue Board, Civil Society Foundation, Väike-Õismäe Garden, Haabersti City District, and Ministry of the Interior. But most importantly, of course, are the members of the community, without whom this initiative would be impossible to carry out,” said Anne-May Nagel, project manager.

The opening seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the upcoming program and how to register for the trainings, as well as a raffle for three elements of crisis preparedness, this time sponsored by Metsavennad OÜ (Militaarpood.ee).

The Crisis Research Centre’s civilian defence Crisis Skills Training Programme aims to provide critical knowledge and skills for dealing with crisis situations.

“This is the Haabersti City District’s first civil defence project, with the goal of empowering the community through various trainings held in collaboration with experienced specialists in their field. By the end of May this year, we will have trained a number of housing association members and leaders to deal with various types of crises, as well as created a pool of basic resources for the community and City District administration to use in different crises,” said Hannes Nagel, head of the Crisis Research Centre.
